Installation Instructions

TOOLS REQUIRED

SPIRIT LEVEL - DRILL - DRILL BIT - SCREWDRIVER - WALL FIXINGS & SCREWS - SEALER & SEALER GUN

INSTALLATION

  1. Mark a line (from the inside leading edge of the bath) onto the forward edge of the bath where the unit is to be installed (ensure that the inside leading edge of the bath is the full lateral edge and not the internal rounded corner/edge of the bath)
  2. Open the OUTASIGHT unit and place against the wall and align the centre of the curtain within the unit, with the mark you have just made. Ensure that the unit is resting on the top surface of the bath and using a spirit level mark a vertical line down the side of the unit.
  3. Mark through the holes in the OUTASIGHT unit for the screw positions. (N.B. you may need assistance to hold the extended unit steady while this procedure is carried out).
  4. Drill the holes the appropriate size recommended by the make of fixing’s you have chosen to use for your particular wall surface and insert fixings.
  5. Return the OUTASIGHT unit to the wall in line with the drilled holes and screw the OUTASIGHT unit to the wall (assistance may be needed).
  6. Ensure that the screws holding the unit to the wall are not over tightened. If it is installed to the wall surface to tightly a small gap will be visible where the front and back profile should meet. The profiles should meet flush for accurate and tight closure. Adjust the installation screws until the unit closes securely.
  7. The fixing screws should then be backed off “4 x full turns”. This will enable the unit to be parted from the wall and leave sufficient space for the installation of the silicone sealer.
  8. Run a bead of silicone sealer along the length of both sides of the rear of the unit.
  9. Retighten the fixing screws to the unit “4 x full turns” and this should ensure that the unit is fitted correctly.

The profiles should meet flush for accurate and tight closure. Adjust the installation screws until the unit closes securely.

The unit must be installed by fitting both the 4x screw wall fixings and the silicone sealer.

THE INSTALLATION SHOULD BE CHECKED AS FOLLOWS:

  1. Open the unit, unclip the curtain and pull/open the curtain until fully extended.
  2. The curtain should align along the inside of the bath and fall slightly below the top edge of the bath.
  3. If the curtain is not below the top edge of the bath, return the curtain to its closed position.
  4. Now, “carefully” unscrew the piston arm (clockwise).
  5. Once undone you will see that there are two washers on the end of the piston, remove one washer.
  6. Screw the piston arm back (anti-clockwise) on to the unit and repeat steps 2 and 3.
  7. If more adjustment is required to the curtain then repeat steps 2-5 to  remove the second washer which will lower the curtain further

Leave the Outasight unit for 24 hours to enable the sealant to cure and before the "initial" use of the shower screen follow the procedure as detailed below.

  1. When the new Outasight unit has been fitted you will find that the curtain material feels stiff and firm and that when opening the pleats sometimes crease, so therefore please complete the following procedure in order to soften the screen/curtain.
  2. Lift and Open the shower screen unit and fully open the screen/curtain.
  3. The screen/curtain should then be fully wet/drenched with water from top to bottom for the full length of the curtain (only on the bath/shower inside of the screen/curtain) and then the screen/curtain should be left out to fully dry.
  4. Repeat the process (as detailed in 3 above) 4 x separate times.
  5. When the screen/curtain is fully dry close the curtain and you will find the screen/curtain material has become much more flexible and softer and the screen/curtain will be much easier to both open and close.

PLEASE ALWAYS ENSURE THAT "AFTER USE" THE SHOWER SCREEN/CURTAIN IS ALWAYS COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE RETURNING THE SCREEN/CURTAIN BACK TO ITS CLOSED POSITION.
